CARENSA- Mauritius Workshop, 14-20 November 2004, Mauritius

The event although covering CARENSA latest developments and the SADC region, also focused on Policy issues in large-scale renewable energy development in Mauritius, Cogeneration experience in Mauritius, large scale ethanol production in Mauritius and research for sustainable development in cane industry. The workshop included a stakeholders meeting & a technical visit. This workshop will impact development & policy issues since the stakeholder groups participating include the Mauritius Sugar Industry Research Institute, the Mauritius Sugar Authority, the University of Mauritius and the private sector.

The thematic network was launched in Fall 2001 and will continue until September 2005. Publications resulting from the project are expected to include five thematic reports, three workshop proceedings, conference papers, journal articles, and a book.
